The Rikjsmuseum The Rikjsmuseum began as a collection started by the royal family in the eighteenth century and displayed in the royal palace. Created in 1808 by Napoleon I’s brother, Louis Bonaparte, then king of Holland, this museum is comprised of almost all the major works of art of the Dutch golden age. You will discover the paintings of the Dutch golden age (seventeenth century), in particular Night Watch, Rembrandt’s self-portrait and Vermeer’s Milkmaid.

Vondelpark Discover Vondel Park, an excellent place to have a picnic or relax . Vondel Park is named after the great seventeenth century playwright and poet. A statue, erected in 1867, pays homage to him. Vondel Park is a 45 hectare English garden with countless trees, fish ponds and fountains…In summer, there is an open-air theatre where free concerts are performed on hot days.. |

The Van Gogh museum The Van Gogh museum displays the world’s largest collection of Vincent Van Gogh’s art work: more than 200 canvases, 500 drawings and 700 letters. The museum also includes art work by other nineteenth century painters and sculptures. Here his most famous paintings are brought together: the Sunflowers, Vincent’s house at Arles and his bedroom…The museum is unique because it allows its visitors to trace the evolution of the paintings with regards to events in the artist’s life.
